Announcement
- Come out for BarCamp Jacksonville
-
On Saturday, June 17th Jacksonville’s first BarCamp will be taking place at the Main Library in Downtown Jacksonville. (The date in the email we sent was wrong)
BarCamp Jacksonville will feature interactive sessions, demos, and more to showcase talent and interactive initiatives. BarCamp Jacksonville aims to get people “excited” about technology in the Northeast Florida area, and to find out where all the web designers & developers are in Jacksonville and the First Coast.
All those in attendance are encouraged to present something, although it is not required. The people are what make BarCamp successful. If you do plan on presenting something be sure to bring all your own presentation materials. The Main Library has plenty of free power and Wi-Fi, but thats about it.
So far we have the following topics scheduled:
Sessions
Sessions are 20-40 minute lectures on a topic.
- Web 2.0, the basics- Judson C.
- DOM Scripting: Writing unobtrusive Javascript – Joey M.
Lightning Talks
Lightning Talks are brief 5-15 minute talks about a specific topic. Perfect for people that don’t like talking too long.
- Web Startup Business Tips – Dennis E.
- Demo of ClaimID – Judson C.
- Blogging in Jacksonville: A hyper-local approach – Joey M.
Group Discussions
Group Discussions are just open discussions about a certain topic. They’re good, but we only need 1-3.
- Business Model of Podcasting – Brainstorming on the business model of podcasting
What’s a BarCamp?
BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.
